Terms of Use
Version: 2026-10-08.1 · Updated: October 8, 2026
Document and version supplied by the LizUp platform.
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of LizUp, including the authenticated area, courses, exercises, quizzes, artificial intelligence tools, live sessions, gamification and other features.
Read these Terms and the offer conditions before purchasing or using features. The Privacy Policy is a notice about data processing; reading it does not replace specific consent when required. These documents do not remove mandatory consumer rights.
1. About LizUp
LizUp is an educational platform for English-language development, with a focus on professional communication, technology, careers and international environments. Available features may vary according to the product, plan and access period purchased.
2. Registration, account and security
Accounts are personal and non-transferable. You must provide accurate information, keep credentials confidential and report unauthorized use. LizUp may apply additional verification, attempt limits and other safeguards when there are signs of fraud, credential sharing or security risk.
3. Eligibility and minors
Even with a primarily adult audience, the operator must assess likely access by children and adolescents and their best interests under LGPD Article 14, ANPD Statement 1/2023 and Law 15,211/2025 (Digital Child Protection Act) where applicable. Serving minors requires effective age-appropriate safeguards and responsible adult involvement where required; an adult-audience declaration does not replace these safeguards.
4. Plans, purchase and access
Price, content, access period, included features, sessions, payment conditions and other product characteristics are presented in the applicable offer, checkout or commercial proposal. Those specific conditions form part of these Terms.
LizUp provides an account-linked academic archive service. Necessary consolidated scores, assessed placement results, progress milestones, certificates and academic opinions may remain available after lesson access ends for consultation and report generation. The preserved archive excludes recordings and complete answers, undergoes an annual necessity review and remains subject to data subject rights. Removal may be requested through the privacy channel, subject to specifically documented retention duties.
5. Payments, cancellation and refunds
Prices, currency, installments, access duration and any renewal must appear in the offer and checkout. Paying in installments does not necessarily mean a monthly subscription. Automatic renewal only applies if disclosed and agreed.
For consumer relationships covered by Brazil’s Consumer Protection Code, purchases outside business premises are subject to the withdrawal right in Article 49, with a seven-day period from signing or receiving the product or service, as applicable. Exercising that right must not depend on lack of use or learner performance.
Contact support for cancellation, withdrawal or refund requests and provide the order reference, purchase date and reason where relevant. Do not send complete card details. Outside mandatory legal rights, the disclosed purchase conditions apply. Deleting data or disabling notifications does not cancel a purchase.
Electronic service must acknowledge purchase-related requests and observe the response deadline of up to five days under Brazilian Decree 7,962/2013. Withdrawal must be available through the same tool used to purchase, in addition to other channels, with acknowledgement and communication to the payment provider to prevent charges or issue refunds as applicable.
6. Educational content and intellectual property
LizUp videos, audio, text, exercises, quizzes, presentations, methodology, software, visual identity and other materials are protected by intellectual-property rights. Purchase grants a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, subject to these Terms’ suspension rules license for educational use during the purchased access period.
- Do not share account credentials.
- Do not copy, sell, redistribute or publish materials without authorization.
- Do not bypass access controls, streaming protections or download restrictions.
- Do not use abusive automated extraction or improper reverse engineering.
7. Exercises, quizzes, assessments and AI
Assessments may include multiple choice, writing, listening, speaking and other formats, with human or AI-assisted evaluation. Scores, CEFR levels, rankings and internal indicators are educational tools and are not official proficiency certifications unless expressly stated otherwise.
LizUp may use artificial intelligence for transcription, correction, pronunciation analysis, grammar, vocabulary, context and feedback generation. AI outputs are probabilistic and may contain errors and should be treated as educational support.
8. User-submitted content
You retain rights you may have in text, audio and other material you submit. By submitting it, you grant LizUp a limited authorization to store, process, transcode, reproduce and make it available as necessary to provide the service, generate feedback and record learning progress.
9. Live sessions, certificates and reports
Live sessions may be subject to availability, capacity, booking, cancellation and rescheduling rules. Certificates and reports may depend on completion and performance criteria and do not automatically constitute an academic degree, regulated professional certification or official proficiency exam.
10. Acceptable use, suspension and termination
You may not use the platform for fraud, unauthorized access, infringement of third-party rights, vulnerability exploitation, abusive automation, malware, improper access to protected assessment answers or unlawful activity. LizUp may restrict, suspend or terminate accounts for serious or repeated violations, subject to mandatory rights under applicable law.
11. Availability, third parties and outcomes
LizUp seeks to keep the service available and secure but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some features depend on hosting, database, storage, streaming, payment, email, videoconferencing and AI providers. The Pronunciation Lab may embed videos hosted on YouTube; video availability and use of the player are also subject to YouTube and Google terms and policies. By using this feature, the user also agrees to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
LizUp provides educational services. Course completion, certificates, simulations or career tools do not guarantee employment, promotion, interview success, immigration outcomes, proficiency-exam results or any specific professional result.
12. Privacy, changes and governing law
Personal-data processing is described in the Privacy Policy. These Terms may be updated to reflect legal, technological, operational or commercial changes, with material changes communicated when appropriate.
Brazilian law applies, while preserving mandatory consumer and data protection rules of other jurisdictions where applicable. No clause removes the consumer’s statutory forum, imposes mandatory arbitration or excludes liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Activity rules and academic integrity
Follow instructions, deadlines, attempt limits, permitted materials and activity rubrics. Use AI or outside assistance in accordance with teacher guidance. Do not present someone else’s work as your own, disclose restricted assessment answers or upload malicious files.
Ask your teacher about score disputes and identify the activity and attempt. Assessment adjustments may be recorded in learning history.
14. Placement and teacher guidance
STARTER, BUILDER and CAREER are internal learning-path categories. Speaking, listening, writing and reading results depend on assessed tasks and available evidence. Test percentages do not have a universal automatic equivalence to CEFR.
CEFR estimates, AI recommendations and teacher opinions serve educational purposes. They are not clinical diagnoses, official language exams or employment guarantees. A teacher can explain or review result interpretations.
15. AI failures and support
Successfully uploaded audio may wait for evaluation or experience a correction failure. Students can request evaluation again when the feature is available. Provider unavailability alone does not mean the student made an error.
Use Help to describe the issue, activity and time. Opening an email draft does not confirm delivery or automatically create a ticket. Do not share passwords, temporary codes or confidential information with support.
16. Session participation and recordings
Respect participants and teachers, use an identifiable name and do not disclose private session links. Do not record or publish other people’s image, voice or content without permission and compliance with applicable law.
If an organizer records a session, the purpose, recipients and recording access conditions must be disclosed beforehand. Attendance, absence, cancellation and make-up conditions must be communicated in the offer or booking.
17. Portfolio, reports and sharing
Review reports and files before sharing. Only include private client, employer or project information with authorization. Sharing a PDF or link outside the platform may allow recipients to retain a copy.
Certificates and internal recognitions, when available, follow disclosed course criteria. Issuance does not imply external accreditation unless expressly stated.
18. Account restrictions and disputes
Responses to violations should consider severity, evidence, security and applicable rights. Reasons and a clarification channel will be provided where feasible; immediate risks may require preventive restrictions.
Students may dispute a restriction through support, identifying the account and facts without exposing credentials. No clause excludes liabilities that cannot legally be excluded or waives mandatory rights. Material changes must be communicated and cannot retroactively impair acquired rights in an offer.
19. Confirmation and document copies
Terms must be available before purchase, with an opportunity to read, correct information and expressly accept. Purchasing does not depend on marketing consent. If the account has no valid confirmation, the platform requests terms acceptance and privacy acknowledgement before first use of academic features. This does not create retroactive proof of acceptance at purchase.
The confirmed copy remains in the student history. Material changes must be clearly notified and operate only within legal limits while preserving purchased conditions and acquired rights. Privacy acknowledgement is information about processing, not blanket consent.
